Voltage Management - Helping Lower Carbon Footprints
24th November 2025
Sometimes our 24 / 7 day-to-day operations, whether it be responding to a loss of supplies, delivery of total turnkey solutions or our comprehensive Hv maintenance packages, all offer a benefit which can sometimes go under the radar – helping reduce CO₂ emissions!
At EME Power Systems, in addition to boosting safety and reliability, our services assist clients in lowering their overall carbon footprint, and best of all, this environmental impact is a natural by-product of the work we already do.
It is well known that ageing assets are less efficient than their modern-day equivalents; however, whilst our comprehensive services ensure they operate as efficiently as possible whilst still in service, giving clients the time and information to assess cost effectiveness and optimal replacement timing considerations, there is a feasible option to still lower costs and CO₂ emissions.
Voltage management is well-known for both lowering CO₂ emissions and overall costs; however, lesser known is that if your electrical supply is metered at HV and you own any high-to-low voltage transformer(s), there is the option to ‘tap’ these transformers down, reducing the voltage on the transformer's secondary Lv side.
Possibly also referred to as voltage optimisation, this low-cost solution could be the difference between utilising what you already have and installing unnecessary, expensive additional equipment.
