Public Sector Decarbonisation Schemes (PSDS)

30th January 2026

Targets for net zero are approaching, and government grants have been made available to reduce emissions from public sector buildings.

At EME Power Systems, we have been actively supporting Public Sector Decarbonisation Schemes (PSDS) nationwide by assisting with the design, supply and installation of the supply infrastructure required to enable decarbonisation projects.

The primary aim of PSDS is to transition away from fossil fuel systems and towards lower-carbon technologies, including heat pumps and solar energy. In many cases, the existing electrical supply infrastructure is not designed to accommodate these new demands, meaning that the supply infrastructure will require upgrading. This is where we come in.

EME Power Systems evaluates each site, enabling us to design and deliver a tailored HV/LV supply package that meets both the current operational needs and future decarbonisation requirements.

We will also liaise with the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) on your behalf to coordinate technical information, programme the works and arrange any shutdowns to ensure projects are delivered safely and efficiently.

The installation of a modern Tier 2 low-loss transformer is an added benefit of upgrading your high-voltage supply. Compared with older and less efficient units, these transformers significantly reduce electrical losses, simultaneously helping to further lower CO₂ emissions and delivering long-term energy cost savings.

Through our involvement in PSDS projects, EME Power Systems continues to support public sector organisations in achieving compliance, improving resilience, and making measurable progress towards net-zero targets.
